ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The meeting of Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) steering committee is underway to discuss future plan of action and protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to details, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief and PDM president Maulana Fazlur Rehman is chairing the meeting.
The participants are reviewing strategy and arrangements for protest outside the ECP headquarters that will be held on January 19 in Islamabad.
Talking to media before the meeting, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz told that she is attending the session on special invitation.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto is not the member of steering committee that’s why he is not participating in the meeting, she told.
Earlier, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had summoned an important meeting to inspect the law and order situation as PDM geared up to stage protest outside the ECP.
Sources familiar with the matter informed Dunya News that the meeting will devise strategy to beef up the security of the Red Zone along with entry and exit points of the federal capital.
The interior minister said in his statement that the ECP is a constitutional institution, and necessary security measures will be ensured.
